Who We Are
Suno, or “Listen” in Hindi, is BU’s premier South Asian/Western Fusion A Cappella team. From its birth in 2001, Suno’s members have loved to express different cultures through music. Suno strives to bring those from any ethnic background into this mixed-cultural group. The particular mix of South Asian and Western music goes beyond lyrics and notes on a page; it redefines what it means to be part of a team and more importantly, part of a family. Suno isn’t defined by its music repertoire, but by how each member adds unique essentials into the group.
In addition to creating a family dynamic, Suno also lets its members dive into the professional realm by competing locally and nationally. Its members work hard throughout the year on pieces for showcases as well as competitions. The Suno Family has had the privilege of performing and competing all across the country from Sahana 2018 in Los Angeles to All American Awaaz 2018 in Chicago. All American Awaaz is the national finals competition for South Asian fusion a cappella, only adding on to Suno’s reputable status. It has been a great honor for Suno to travel across the country and represent what unites every single member, their love for music.
Suno’s recent album “Iss Baar Suno” is its newest way to hear their dedication to blending music. Past arrangements such as I'm So Tired / Phir Se Ud Chala and Luxury / Yeh Jo Des Hai Tera represent Suno’s love for blending various genres while singles such as Alive, by Khalid, Harjaiyaan, and Noor E Khuda showcase the group’s strong individual pieces.
We also host showcases featuring our team, and other a cappella and dance teams from BU as well as other universities. Contact us to learn more, and remember: just listen!
